Rick A. Esposito, MD, has more than three decades of experience in the health care sector, and, for the last 13 years, has been serving as a medical doctor and vice chairman of cardiovascular and thoracic surgery for North Shore University Hospital’s Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery. Proficient in mitral valve insufficiency, Dr. Esposito performs a multitude of minimally invasive and cardiac surgical procedures, including cardiopulmonary bypass and coronary artery bypass. He also performs heart valve prosthesis, is a heart surgery during which an artificial valve is swapped for a damaged cardiac valve.
With a strong belief in continuing education, Dr. Esposito earned an MD from the University of Chicago in 1979 and went on to complete a residency and fellowship at the NYU School of Medicine. Dr. Esposito is also passionate about being very involved with his peers, and maintains affiliations with the European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, American Board of Thoracic Surgery and American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the New York Society For Thoracic Surgery and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
