Jiri Maly, Ph.D. always found that banking provided an exciting opportunity to build a new business in financing projects. He decided to pursue a career that could combine finance and infrastructure because he loved working on mega capital projects in which management consultants were not involved. It provided fascinating challenges on how to manage risk. Thus, his role as the managing director of global infrastructure finance for CIBC World Markets Inc. is perhaps the perfect job for him.

An integral part of the senior leadership team, Dr. Maly is responsible for the development of a global strategic advisory, capital markets and lending practice infrastructure. Currently, he is developing and leading the infrastructure finance risk and analytics platform, and participates in client-focused advisory engagements andinternal assessments of project and financing risk.
