“BeASister2ASister brings women of all ethnicities and backgrounds together in a sisterhood to do away with societal and cultural divisions,” says Samantha Inesta, who has spent her career showing women that by standing strong together, they can be a unified force that does away with gender inequalities and atrocities against women. With a fervent desire to enact change, Ms. Inesta established the nonprofit organization four years ago after she spent 11 years working as a human rights advocate. Previously, she worked with the New York City chapter of the National Organization for Women as an anti-trafficking coordinator. She also worked in a research capacity for the Coalition Against Trafficking in Women. Her experiences in these roles gave Ms. Inesta the tools necessary to build programs and a network of shelters to provide a safe place for women to feel protected and supported.
