As the president of United Cerebral Palsy of New York City (UCP of NYC), Edward Matthews’ main goals revolve around providing services, technology and advocacy for children and adults with cerebral palsy and other disabilities. Prior to joining UCP of NYC, Mr. Matthews worked as an independent consultant. Before that, he led a 10-year career with the New York State government, where he implemented a federal court order to close state institutions for people with developmental disabilities. In 2011, he was appointed to Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Medicaid Redesign Team. Mr. Matthews has more than 43 years of experience and has been with UCP of NYC for nearly three decades. He earned a master’s degree in psychology from St. John’s University. In recognition of his accomplishments, Mr. Matthews was distinguished as an Elite American Executive in 2016, and was selected as a VIP Member of the Year by Worldwide Branding.
