Dr. Wheeland is a seasoned dermatologist based in Tucson, Ariz. He oversees all operations of Lasers and Skin Cancer Technologies, a private medical practice that focuses on skin cancer treatment, as well as clinical trials and research on the uses and advantages of laser treatment. Prior to working in this capacity, Dr. Wheeland worked in private practice in Santa Fe, N.M. He previously served as head of the section of dermatology at the University of Arizona College of Medicine, and as a professor and chairman of the Department of Dermatology at the University of California at Davis and the University of New Mexico.
A skilled writer and researcher, Dr. Wheeland has authored more than 200 publications, 34 book chapters and 35 abstracts. He is a former medical editor of “Cosmetic Surgery Times,” and has served on the editorial boards of “The Journal of Drugs in Dermatology, Dermatologic Surgery” and “Lasers in Surgery and Medicine.” Dr. Wheeland is a talented leader as well. He is a past president of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, Arizona Dermatologic Surgical Association, and the Pacific Dermatologic Association.
